Automated panel take-off, from drawing to shop file
Problem
Each panel was taken off by hand from the drawings. It was slow, prone to transcription errors and dependent on one specific person knowing how to read them; there was also no clear view of each panel's production status.
What we built
We built an end-to-end process: the system automatically pulls each panel's drawings from the client's extranet and routes them to two take-off engines. Architectural panels are handled by a deterministic engine—the same drawing always yields the same result—that also checks the calculated weight against the drawing's own; industrial panels run through an AI-vision engine that verifies its output with a second pass. If anything doesn't add up, the panel is flagged automatically for the drawing office to review, rather than having to be hunted down. Everything lives in a custom CRM where the team plans production by project, downloads the shop-ready take-off files, handles reviews and incidents, and sees a monthly report of time saved.
The value for the client
The drawing office went from interpreting and transcribing drawings to validating an already-generated take-off: they only review the cases the system flags as uncertain and are no longer the bottleneck. The process no longer depends on a single person, and each panel's take-off is resolved in around 2–3 minutes.
