The problem

Since October 2024, all tourist accommodations in Spain must report guest data to SES.Hospedajes within 24 hours, with fines up to €30,000 for non-compliance. The manual process is tedious, error-prone, and requires juggling calendars across several platforms with no unified view.

The audit

One owner needed to comply without losing hours every day. When we audited the problem, we found it repeated across thousands of small owners — a segment the big players in the sector didn't prioritize, because each owner's volume is small even though the problem, added up, is enormous.

The solution

We built a custom solution that automated the entire flow: booking synchronization, self-service check-in with ID/passport OCR, automatic tourist tax calculation by region, and direct submission to the authorities through our own API.

From solution to product

Once we saw the problem was widespread and not specific to one client, the custom solution evolved into a standalone product. Margo is designed specifically for owners with 1 to 5 properties who need something simple and effective, without the complexity of software built for large management companies.
